[Canon point that you are updating to] season 3, episode 11
[Background]
Dash’s stunt training gets out of hand and she crashes, breaking her wing. She is forced to stay grounded and in the hospital for a few days, which she hates. Trying to help, Twilight offered Dash a book. Daring Doo is a series of adventure books and the hospital has the first one! Dash thinks reading is just for eggheads though, and turns the book down. Unfortunately, Dash quickly becomes bored and decides to give the book a chance, instantly falling in love with it. She spends the rest of the time reading, and avoiding letting her friends know about her new love. Unfortunately Dash is discharged from the hospital before she can finish reading it. She sneaks back into the hospital to finish, but wakes the new person in her bed and is chased out by the guards. Dash is corned at Twilights house by them and is forced to admit her love of reading.
Dash then helps protect Spike as he goes out to meet other dragons during the dragon migration. It’s not really about her but since she leaves Ponyville I thought it should be mentioned.
Dash is humiliated by “Gabby Gums” when it is printed in the schools paper that she loves to be pampered, which was not true at all.
While helping Apple Jack bring a tree out to Applelusa, She becomes friends with a herd of buffalo.
Dash is invited to do a Sonic Rainboom at the wedding of Princess Cadence and Shining Armor. She is completely under the spell of getting ready for her stunt and doesn’t notice that the princess is not who she seams. When Twilight breaks into the wedding with the real Princess and shows the fake for what she truly is, Dash joins the girls in trying to get to the elements of harmony to stop her. They don’t make it though and are brought back to the castle. There, she sees Princess Cadence and Shining Armor use the power of their love to banish the fake princess, who turned out to be the queen of the changlings.
Dash is called out to help Twilight find a way to help the crystal empire. When they get there, they find Princess Cadence using her magic to form a shield to protect the empire from the old king who is trying to retake the kingdom. Her magic is failing though, and the girls go out to question the crystal ponies about how the empire used to be protected. The crystal ponies seem to have forgotten everything from before the king ruled over them though, frustrating Dash. They do find a book in the library, no thanks to the librarian who can't even remember if she actually works there, about the crystal empire in the library, and use it to put together the crystal fair to raise the spirits of the crystal ponies. Dash and everyone else helps set it up, and open it to the ponies. This does work, and the ponies spirits are lifted. The problem is the book only mentioned a crystal heart as the center piece of the fair, but not that it was the relic that was used to protect the empire from harm. The girls had made one thinking that it was just a decoration. When Rainbow discovers their mistake, she covered the fake with a flag to hide it from the ponies who hadn't noticed it yet. When Rainbow tells Twilight, Twilight tells rainbow to go back to the fair and keep the spirits of the crystal ponies high while she goes to look for it. Dash tries keeping the ponies away from the fake crystal heart at first, but just ends up scaring them. Apple Jack tells Dash she should go joust, so she grabs Fluttershy and does just that! The power of the shield fades while they are doing that, and Dash and the others are left just trying to calm the crystal ponies while they wait for Twilight to return with the heart. When all hope seemed to be lost, Spike comes down with the crystal heart and is caught by Princess Cadence when she is launched into the air by Shining Armor. The heart is put into it's rightful place by her and the crystal ponies unite and power the crystal, expelling the evil king.
Dash goes on a camping trip with Apple Jack, Rarity and their sisters and scootaloo when Scootaloo wants to spend more time with her after Dash says the filly has nice moves. Dash tells scary stories around the campfire at night, but finds out that in the end those stories had a negative affect on scootaloo, who only wanted Dash to take her under her wing and be like her big sister. Dash admits that the first time she heard the stories, she was scared too, but figured out real quick if they were real, she could totally take care of herself. Dash decides to take Scootaloo under her wing and gains a little sister figure.
Dash is accepted to train at the wonderbolt academy, her life long dream! While she is there, she meets Lightening Dust, an equally talented pony with a streak for dangers. They are named a team on the second day of training, but Dash is named the wing pony instead of the leader. Dash goes to Spit Fire, the captain of the wonderbolts who is training her, and says she should have been named the leader. Spitfire says that Dash wasn’t named the leader because she believed that Lightening Dust took more risks and therefor made a better leader. This upsets Dash, but she does the best she can as a wing pony. Lightening Dust makes Dash clip her wing, makes the other teams go into dangerous tail spins on an obstacle course, and almost demolishes her friends who came to give dash a care package. Dash can not take all of this reckless behavior and confronts Spitfire, saying she quits if that is what it means to be a Wonderbolt and then walks out of her office. Spitfire comes after Dash to tell her that she was right, and that the wonderbolts shouldn't become great at the cost of their fellow ponies. She also says that Dash is no wing pony, but a leader. Lightening dust is stripped of her leader badge and it is given to Rainbow instead.
The girls are given the Elements of Harmony by Princess Celestia when they are given the tasks of reforming Discord, whom they had turned into stone after he has turned ponyville into the caos capital of the world, to use his magic for good instead of evil. Dash doesn’t trust him, and says so quite a lot. In the end, Fluttershy is able to get Discord to use his magic for good instead of evil, but Rainbow’s element of harmony is left with her just incase.
[Personality]
Dash is still the in your face pony that she always is. She reads all the time now though, and is writing her own book about a pony that becomes the captain of the wonderblots. She gains a little sister figure in scootaloo. Her ego is a little more under control, but not by much.
[Abilities]
She needs less time to get to the speed needed to make a sonic rainboom.
[Other important stuff]
She will have her element of harmony when she comes back.
